Who

Hermes Airports, an international consortium with the participation of (amongst others): Bouygues Batiment Int, Cyprus Trading Corp. and Nice Côte d'Azur Airport, with a special concession contract by the Cypriot government, undertook the construction and management of the Pafos International Airport (PFO).   Pascall+Watson and Stanton were responsible for the architectural design of the new terminal, with the participation of Bouygue technical services. The airport’s commercial spaces were undertaken by 2 consortiums: Air-Rianta with CTC, responsible for Duty Free Stores and SSP Food Travel experts, CTC, Aer Rianta and Louis Group, responsible for catering areas.

What

Α&Μ Architects, apart from participating in designing the Master Plan for the commercial section, also undertook the design and project management of the new Airport’s catering areas. The A&M project management team organised the selection process for contractors involved in all stages of the project, monitored development on a daily basis, resolved issues which arose during construction and ensured the project’s completion on time and within budget, delivering yet another high-quality project.

Where

The new Pafos Airport is a project of great importance for Cyprus. With charter flights, it mostly serves the island’s tourist traffic by covering the country’s increased seasonal needs. It is an extremely modern airport, with top level of services and security, which will serve 2.7 million passengers annually. The new airport, which cost 126 million euros, features 17 airport ramps, 28 checkpoints and a main building covering 18,500 square meters, which includes, amongst others, recreation areas and stores.  The excellent collaboration among Α&Μ and Hermes, Bouyges, Aer Rianta and CTC, as well as the construction company CYFAST  RECONDITIONS LTD, led to the completion of a modern airport in the most touristic region of Cyprus.

When

The project started in 2007 with construction works by Bouyges Batiment, which also had the overall responsibility of coordinating the project.  Construction of interior catering spaces was undertaken by CYFAST RECONDITIONS LTD with supervision by the A&M Project Management team. Hermes Airports, the managing organisation for Airports in Cyprus, delivered the New Terminal Passenger Station of the Pafos Airport on November 8, 2008. Α&Μ Architects, delivered the new spaces in full operation, within the same timeframe, to the head of the project, Cyprus Airports (F&B).
